  'Trafalgar Square by Moonlight'

  After a painting by Henry Pether of 1861–67. This atmospheric view of London’s famous square, named in honour of Britain’s naval hero, looks south-eastwards down Whitehall, with Big Ben just visible in the distance. Nelson’s Column, silhouetted against the moonlit sky, dominates the scene. The original painting is in the collection of the Museum of London.

  St Paul's Cathedral

  An elegant enamel spill vase to mark the 300th anniversary of the completion in 1708 of Sir Christopher Wren’s masterpiece. This 18th-century view of the cathedral is transfer-printed in blue around the sides, whilst inside the rim is the inscription, in Latin and English, from Wren’s epitaph: ‘Reader, if you seek his monument, look around you.’
